Model To Sheet LayersIn this short video we show how to track down a layer from an item within a draw view. It can get challenging with lots of layers.
What's New in 9Overview of the new features introduced in ViaCAD Pro 9 that include:• Quad mesh & subdivision tools • Woodworking joints • 3D arrays
ViaCAD 2D3D : Convert To SolidAt $99, ViaCAD has some surprising horsepower. In this video, a STL file of a snowflake is converted into a precise solid and personalized with modeling operations such as shell and protrusions.
Woodworking OverviewDemonstration of the woodworking features that include:• Dado • Miter • Tongue and Groove • Rabbet
Subdivision ModelingThe subdivision tools are used to modify a block into an organic shaped spoon.• Quad mesh • Subdivision tools • Gripper modifications • STL export for 3D printing
Defeature PartDemonstrates how to use the direct editing tools of ViaCAD to remove features from a part:• Delete Face from Local Operations Palette • Deep Select and Delete Key For Fast Remove
Creating Tangent Lines and CirclesDemonstrates how to create:• Line Tangent to Two Circles • Circle Tangent to Two Curves
Creating 2D Drawings from 3DThe ViaCAD products have the ability to create 2D drawings from 3D models. This demonstration shows:
Create a CutListCreating a good cutlist for a woodworking project can take some time, but will ultimately save you more time and money when it comes to purchasing your material. In this demonstration, we explain how to make a cultist using the Bill of Material feature and CutList attribute. The cutlist attribute will help identify parts of the same length, width, and thickness. After you add your cutlist attributes, ViaCAD will generate a Bill of Material listing all the common parts. With cutlist in hand, you can now go to the lumberyard confident that you get the correct amount of material for your project.
Moving Spline PointsThere are several ways to modify spline points with ViaCAD. This video shows two methods:• Nudging with Arrow Keys • Gripper
Push/PullThe Push/Pull tool searches for closed 2D regions and allows you to dynamically extrude the region into 3D. You can also move the cursor over existing faces to add or remove material. An additional feature allows you to sketch curves onto faces, which will enable you to move new regions.
Direct Edit with The GripperThe Gripper features have been extended with V8 to allow direct editing of faces. Direct face editing includes translate, rotate, and scale of faces. Additionally, you can now create arrays of faces using the Gripper.
Modeling a SnowboardViaCAD Pro provides surface and solid modeling tools. This demonstration creates a snowboard using surfaces and solids. A bitmap image is also used to provide guidance for construction curves.
Modeling a BoltThis tutorial demonstrates how you can use ViaCAD Pro to create a bolt. Tools demonstrated include :
| |
2D to 3D AssociativityThis demonstration shows how to construct a 3D frame from a 2D profile. Additionally, this video demonstrates some simple associativity between the 2D geometry and the 3D solids facilitating rapid modifications.
Solid Modeling Blend/FilletViaCAD and Shark use the Dassualt/Spatial modeling kernel which provides support for excellent blending features. Check out some of the challenging blends ViaCAD and Shark can tackle in this video.
The GripperThis feature provides an intuitive graphical widget that attaches to your objects allowing you to dynamically move, rotate, and scale objects in 2D or 3D. In addition to freely moving parts around, the gripper provides a data entry field to precisely move, rotate, and scale parts.
Custom Tool PalettesCreate palettes using your favorite combination of tools. Use this new feature to customize ViaCAD Pro for your specific workflow process. Drag and drop your favorite tools to a custom palette where you specify the icon size, mxn arrangement, and orientation.
Coffee CupCreates a coffee cup using subdivision tools.
Section PropertiesDemonstrates how to calculate the 2D section properties from a 3D shape. 2D section properties include:• Centroid • Principle Moments • Principle Moments A and B Axis
Export to Adobe IllustratorAbobe Illustrator is a popular vector based graphics application. This video shows how to take a 3D part and convert the data into 2D vectors and export into the Adobe Illustrator file format.
Push Pull Arbitrary OrientationsThis video tip demonstrates setting the work plane to pull arbitrary shapes into 3D solids.
Hole CutoutsShows how the recently updated Cutout Tool can be used to quickly create hole patterns.
Dimension TipsFive tips for dimensioning with ViaCAD presented in five minutes. The tips are extracted from the ViaCAD Tips and Tricks EBook. |
